Electric Era launches network to help drivers find its EV fast chargers on third-party platforms

EV charging systems provider Electric Era has launched a network to make its charging locations visible on OEM vehicle mapping systems and discoverable on third-party platforms to help customers find its DC fast chargers.

The Electric Era Charging Station Network is already available on PlugShare and Google Maps, and will become available on the Hubject and WEX fleet management platforms. Customers can find and save the Electric Era Charging Station Network in the filters section to quickly locate their chargers, regardless of the brand name on the kiosk.

Tesla includes Electric Era chargers in its mapping systems under the Tesla Third Party Charging program. More OEMs like Ford, Rivian and GM are expected to add the network to their in-car systems.

Electric Era focuses on supplying its DC fast chargers to retailers such as Costco Wholesale, Plaid Pantry and Skycharger.

The company has been rolling out its DC fast chargers at a rapid pace, completing the installation of six premium charging stalls in just 54 days at a Costco Wholesale warehouse in Northport, Florida in April and May. The company has developed a battery-backed architecture that it says reduces peak grid input power requirements and installation complexity.

“We’re helping our retailer customers leverage reliability to build their brand affinity and customer loyalty programs to grow their business,” said Electric Era founder and CEO Quincy Lee.

Electric Era has assembled a team of former Starlink, Blue Origin, and Amazon Project Kuiper engineers to design reliability and remote serviceability into its chargers.

“When a satellite breaks down, we can’t send a repairman up into space. So we used that same mindset when we designed our chargers by automating fault detection and over-the-air repairs,” Lee said. “That’s why we’re confident enough to financially back our chargers to deliver 98.5% or better per-port uptime.”
